Hardcore the Vote

It's Election Day Eve, and I already took advantage of early voting. Have you? If not, this is a friendly reminder to get out and do your civic duty tomorrow, November 4th.

Gobama.

Couldn't Help Myself

This may be the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Or the greatest.

Local Show

Hey All,

This is just a reminder (especially for old timers like me) that Colorado's beloved Pinhead Circus will be having a reunion show on Saturday. It's at the Marquis Theater. Details can be found here.

I hope to see you there.

Keep rockin'.

New Misery Signals. Can't wait until the end of this month. Here's a live performance of one of the new songs.

Fantastic.

Audiosurf—Play with Your Playlist

Along with underground music of the hard variety, gaming is one of my big passions in life. Unfortunately, the two rarely come together. And no, I don't count games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band. Aerosmith isn't hardcore. The Rolling Stones have never played a breakdown during their soon-to-be-if-not-already supernaturally long existence. The closest I've come to hearing Poison the Well in a game has been through custom playlist support, when applicable. That doesn't count.

So that brings me to Audiosurf.

The game is simple enough. You pilot a ship on a track and collect colored blocks. The music determines the rhythm at which you do these things. Here's the brilliant part, you provide the music. Audiosurf adapts the game accordingly. Simply put, there are as many levels in the game as there are tracks on your hard drive. Very cool stuff.

Here's some footage of the game in action, featuring two of my favorites—Unearth and At the Drive-In.

A Little Bit of Humor...

Someone sent me a link earlier today that reminded of how great homestarrunner is. Below are some links to some of my favorite Strong Bad bits. These are classic!

The Hot Pursuit

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to let those of you in a band know about a competition.

Sponsored by Spin and Music Nation, this year's Hot Pursuit competition is searching for a breakout band. Last year's winner, The Scarlet, was rewarded with a record deal and a performance at 2008's SXSW.

Once registered, mp3's, videos, and photos of your band can uploaded. Voting for the competition begins May 15th.

For more details and to register, check out this site www.spin.com/thecompetition

R.I.P. Dead to Fall

I wouldn't consider myself the biggest Dead to Fall fan, but I did appreciate the band's always energetic live show, even with the ever revolving line-up.

I thought I would pay my homage to the band with one of the funnier (and more random) videos I've seen from a metal band. If you never had a chance to see this band, at least watch the video.

Doing More with Less

Two weeks since my last post. I'm getting better. Hey, I'm a workaholic. That usually gets in the way.

I thought it would be cool to share the new Minus the Bear video with those of you who haven't seen it yet. It's for the song Knights off the Planet of Ice album. I'm sure the video itself cost a measly sum to make, yet it's engaging and cool. Basically, a mirror effect was placed on footage of the band jamming. The effect is similar to the one I can get in Photo Booth on my Macbook.

The song's not bad either. Take a look, and listen, for yourself.
